Electric motors are used extensively in many industrial environments to perform various tasks and functions, such as rotating shafts, driving pumps, fans, and power tools. Frequency converters for controlling the speed and torque of the motor - usually three-phase AC induction or three-phase brushless DC motors - using specially developed control methods such as variable frequency drive (VFD) or field oriented control (FOC). Use servo motors when motion acceleration, speed and position require maximum precision - for example in industrial automation, robotics, CNC machines - to achieve the highest energy efficiency and reliable performance.
